Method:

  1. Soak the white chickpeas overnight in warm water.
  2. Take a pressure cooker, add the white chickpeas and water so that chickpeas are properly soaked in it. After first whistle, put it on simmer for 30 minutes.
  3. In fry pan, add olive oil. When the temperature rises, add diced onions, saute them for a while till they turn nice and pink in color. Now add ginger-garlic paste, green chilies, salt, coriander powder and turmeric powder. (You can even use ginger and garlic pieces too.)
  4. Saute it for 3-4 minutes. After this add the diced tomatoes and cook till the mixture leaves oil.
  5. Bring this to room temperature. Now blend this mixture in a blender until it forms a rich red puree. (Add little bit of water or milk if necessary while grinding.)
  6. Transfer this mixture in a pan and bring it to boil. Add red chili powder, garam masala, chickpea masala and water accordingly. Stir it occasionally for 5-6 minutes. Finally add your boiled chickpeas and mix it thoroughly.
  7. Turn of the gas. Garnish it with fresh coriander leaves.
  8. Serve hot.

Tip of the day : The chickpeas spice/masala is easily available in any grocery store and this is the only ingredient that imparts a different flavor altogether. This spice makes the dish nice and delicious.
